Facelift Process
If you are looking for a solution to look 10 years younger, then a facelift is the best solution available for you today!
The Facelift Consultation
To start the process of a facelift, the first thing that you will need to do is schedule a facelift consult with a surgeon and find out which facelift technique would work for you. The facelift surgeon will evaluate your face and then he or she will discuss the different lifts you may need and if you are a good facelift candidate.
At this same consultation the doctor will check for any medical problems to make sure the patient can have the facelift surgery. After getting cleared to have a facelift procedure the surgeon will tell the patient to stop taking aspirins because it can cause clotting, and the doctor will inform you to quit smoking if you are a smoker.
Questions To Ask The Doctor About Your Facelift Process
- What facelift technique do you recommend for me?
- Where will the incisions and resulting scars be located after my facelift?
- What is your experience with this facelift technique?
- What results can I expect after my facelift?
- What type of anesthesia do you recommend for my facelift?
- Will the facelift process be painful?
The Different Facial Rejuvenation Procedures and Facelift process
During the facelift process the skin is re-positioned to give the patient a more youthful appearance. A facelift also eliminates extra skin, tightens up muscles and removes the fat. A facelift can be performed in conjunction with a neck lift. A neck lift tightens sagging muscles and eliminates extra skin around the neck area. A brow lift is different than a facelift. A Brow lift elevates the brow to a more natural look. Lastly, blepharoplasty lift addresses the skin around the eyes and restores a more rested appearance.
Ask your facelift surgeon if he or she recommends any of these complimentary procedures for your specific case.
Mapping out the Facelift Procedure
After deciding which facelift technique is right for the patient, the facelift surgeon will then plan out the map of the procedure and will discuss it with the patient; where the incisions will be, go over the exact areas on your face that will be lifted and what anesthesia you want, you can go with the local anesthesia plus a sedative or use general anesthesia which will put you to sleep.

The Start of the Facelift Process
Before the facelift process begins the patient will be administered anesthesia. Then the facelift surgeon begins by making the incisions. The major incisions start at the hairline near the temple and runs behind your ear following the natural hair line and ends at the lower scalp. The minor cut is under the chin which is only used if the patient is getting a neck lift.
The Actual Facelift Procedure
The facelift surgeon will then peel the layers under the skin; the surgeon removes the fat by trimming it or suctioning it out. Then, the facelift surgeon proceeds to reposition the muscles and other tissues which tighten the face. The facelift surgeon will then make your skin smooth, and will begin to reattach the skin to your hairline, and if there is extra skin the doctor will then remove the skin. Then stitches are put into to secure the layers of tissue and to keep the incisions closed. Because the scalp is so important the facelift surgeon may put a metal clip there to keep it from reopening. Before wrapping the patient in bandages to help minimize bruising and swelling the doctor will put a draining tube behind the ears which will help from the blood colleting up under the layers of tissue and undo the entire procedure.
When the facelift is complete after 2 weeks you will see a noticeable difference in your face. The skin will be tighter, smoother and you will look younger again.
