A facelift is the reduction of underlying layers of tissue and tightens facial muscles. The facelift addresses gravity and age-related changes by repositioning the facial fat and reducing the excess sagging skin. A facelift may be necessary if the patient has also lost a lot of weight and presents excess skin on the facial area due to their weight loss.
Are there scars after a facelift?
Yes, there are scars after a facelift, however the incisions are hidden behind your ears and in your hairline and are hardly noticeable.
How long does the Facelift procedure take?
The facelift surgery typically takes 3-6 hours per session. the amount of time per facelift session varies from patient to patient and it also depends on the facelift surgeon's experience, extend of the procedure and technique used.
What is the average cost of face lifts?
The average cost of a facelift is $4,000-$25,000 depending upon the facelift technique and extent, the facelift surgeon's experience, location and the different facilities.
What kind of anesthesia is used?
During a facelift procedure general or local anesthesia can be used with intravenous sedation.
Do I have to stay in the hospital after my facelift?
Depending upon your doctor and the extent of the surgery, this is an in and outpatient procedure.
How long is the recovery time for a facelift?
Patients are able to go back to work within 10 days to two weeks. There may be swelling, bruising and stiffness for 3 to 4 weeks after the procedure. A patient will see full results after 2 months of their facelift procedure.
How many times will I need to have a facelift?
Most patients only need one procedure. In rare cases a patient will need additional procedures. Please ask your facelift t surgeon about you individual case for detailed information.
How long will facelifts results last?
This procedure is long lasting. However, in some cases if the skin presents additional sagginess over time, you may desire another facelift.
